Uluwatu Temple is located in Pecatu Village, south of Kuta “Uluwatu” mean “Ulu” is the edge of a cliff, “Watu” is a rock, those meaning is reflecting its place was built on the edge of the cliff by the sage “Mpu Kuturan” and “Dang Hyang Niratha” is credited for constructing the padmasana Shrines and it is said that he attained “moksha” here, and it’s called “ngeluhur”. This has resulted in the temples epithet “Luhur” . This destination is well known also as a cultural destination and every evening at 06.00 pm the tourist can enjoy Kecak dance with unforgettable scenery above the cliff along with clear sunset as a backdrop.
